Hummer EV wrecked

Hummer EV wrecked by YouTuber within the first 9 miles of ownership proving that not even a Hummer is immune to stupidity.

The new Hummer EV might be tough to get but simple to destroy if you are foolish enough. As we know the Hummer EV is unlike any vehicle before it. The rig weighs a pavement crushing 9,000 pounds. Yet can rocket to 60 mph in a little over 3 seconds. It makes 1,000 horsepower. It will tackle tough off-road terrain, and it can even drive diagonally. The Hummer EV is available as a pickup or an SUV, but no matter which you choose they are not easy to get. Many are selling for well above MSRP and they are not inexpensive to begin with. If you are able to get one, you should consider yourself lucky. If you are the owner of a Hummer EV wrecked with only 9 miles on the odometer you should consider yourself unlucky. Or just plain dumb.

YouTuber Edmond Mondi is a successful entrepreneur but that doesn’t mean he always makes the best decisions. This is perfectly illustrated in a video he recently released on his Mondi YouTube channel. It shows him taking delivery of his brand-new Edition 1 Hummer EV pickup. Then he picks up a couple friends. Then he is staring at his Hummer EV wrecked on a gravel road before the truck even reached double digits on the odometer. We feel sorry for the poor truck but at least no one was injured.

Hummer EV Excitement

Mondi owns many high end and exotic vehicles, and he acts a bit jaded when it comes to picking up his new Hummer EV at the dealership. However, his excitement is obvious. He can’t wait to get the truck out on the trails and to do some camping with it. But like most YouTubers he must first show off and act like an idiot. So, he picks up a couple friends to show them just what the Hummer EV can do.

Mondi performs a launch to show off the speed and then proceeds to a nearby gravel path parallel to a local highway. The problem is Mondi is more focused on scaring his passengers than paying attention to the path he is travelling on. Soon he approaches a dip about five feet deep and he hits it at roughly 60 mph. The Hummer EV can do a lot, but it can’t do this. The impact is severe, but thankfully the truck is the only thing that comes away damaged. No humans were harmed in the making of this video. Although they were certainly put at risk.

Damage

Broken parts

We don’t know the full extent of the damage, but it is significant. Perhaps even enough to total the truck. The radiator is split and spilling fluid. The rear suspension is clearly damaged with the passenger side rear wheel pointing in the wrong direction. Mondi thinks the frame itself is bent which would obviously not be good news. Mondi is walking back up the road collecting the parts that the truck shed after impact. But based on the extent of the damage, having these parts may be a moot point.

Lessons Learned

We doubt Mondi learned anything from this. He is wealthy and seemingly unconcerned about writing off his 6-figure truck. But this should serve as a warning to anyone watching this. If you do stupid things, you win stupid prizes. This Hummer EV is trashed and that is a shame. But this type of driving was completely irresponsible, and someone could have been seriously hurt. When you get an exciting new vehicle, by all means go out and enjoy it. But don’t be stupid.
