2023 Chevrolet Colorado

The 2023 Chevrolet Colorado includes a first-ever Trail Boss model, but the design, performance and technology are enhanced on all models.

The 2023 Chevrolet Colorado is here and there is big news across the entire lineup. There are three off-road models including the first-ever Colorado Trail Boss. The 2.7-liter turbo engine is offered in three different states of tune. There are four distinct interior trims. And each Colorado features an all-new exterior design. So, no matter if you are looking for a tough off-road beast, a simple work truck or something in between the all-new Colorado has you covered.

“The all-new Colorado is enhanced in every way,” said Scott Bell, global vice president of Chevrolet, in a recent press statement. “With its rugged and sporty styling, enhanced capability, new technology and customization options, it’s designed to do more for discerning customers and still offer them great value.”

The focus for the 2023 Chevrolet Colorado was on an elevated design, enhanced performance, and the newest technology. In other words, basically everything that makes a truck a truck has been improved in this all-new model. And buyers will have more flavors of Colorado available than ice cream flavors at their local Baskin-Robbins. “The 2023 Colorado lineup includes Work Truck (WT), LT, Z71, ZR2 and first-ever Trail Boss models. The lineup features three distinctive chassis stances to optimize each model’s capabilities.”

Interior

Design

It is obvious from your first glance that the exterior of the 2023 Chevrolet Colorado is new. But open the door and peek inside and you will find an all-new interior as well. Actually, you will find four of them. There are now four unique interior trims choices for customers. The centerpiece is the standard 11.3-inch-diagonal color infotainment touchscreen.

If that is not enough screen real estate for you then you will be happy to learn that a standard 8-inch-diagonal fully digital color instrument display is also included. “We set out to design the Colorado as a tough, muscular and capable midsize truck, which we think especially came through in the wide ZR2 trim with the aggressive grille shield.” said Phil Zak, executive design director. “Across all trims, the exterior’s presence and attitude is reflected in the interior, which is designed around the large center stack screen.”

Colorado ‘2.7L Turbo’

All 2023 Colorado trucks will get the 2.7L Turbo engine. However, there are three different variants available. The base engine has 237 horsepower and 259 pound-feet of torque. This is standard on the WT and LT trims. One step up is the 2.7L Turbo Plus engine. This offers 310 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque.

This is your standard engine in the Z71 and Trail Boss. It is an option on the WT and LT. At the top of the ladder is the 2.7L Turbo High-Output. With this you get the same 310 horsepower, but torque is increased to 430 pound-feet. This engine comes standard on the ZR2 only.

ZR2

Chassis Setup

The 2023 Chevrolet Colorado offers three distinct chassis setups. The standard setup comes on the WT, LT and Z71 models. A 2-inch lift and wide stance setup is offered on the Trail Boss. A 3-inch lift and wide stance comes on the ZR2. Ground clearance varies based on the model and chassis you select. The WT and LT can clear 7.9 inches. The Z71 ups it to 8.9 inches. The Trail Boss can clear 9.5 inches. And the ZR2 is the ground clearance champ at an impressive 10.7 inches.

To sum up, you can find a Colorado to fit your needs perfectly. “The new Colorado is a lifestyle enabler,” said Nicholas Katcherian, vehicle chief engineer. “Because outdoor activities are a big part of our Colorado customers’ lifestyles, we’ve made the truck even more capable to support them — from increased bed functionality to comprehensive performance enhancements that help take them farther.”

Z71

Technology

The all-new Colorado offers up to five selectable drive modes depending on the model. These modes include: Normal, Tow/Haul, Off-Road, Terrain, and Baja. But the technology does not end there. Chevy Safety Assist is standard and includes items such as Lane Keep Assist, Front Pedestrian Braking, Automatic Emergency Braking and Forward Collision Alert.

However, if you want to up the safety quotient of your truck you can add Blind Zone Steering Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, HD Surround Vision and Rear Pedestrian Alert. The technology upgrades continue with things like Google Built-In for accessing maps, music and vehicle functions. There are also up to ten different camera views available on the Z71 and ZR2 models. Therefore, this is the most technologically advanced Colorado pickup ever.
