Chevy Forum Live from the 2020 C8 Corvette Convertible Reveal
We were on the scene for the launch of the all-new, and all-amazing Corvette Convertible, starting at $67,495.
This has been a great time to be a Corvette fan. Earlier this year we saw the release of the C8 Corvette Stingray coupe. It had a lot to live up to, but it met our expectations and surpassed them. So the stakes were pretty high heading into the reveal held at Cape Canaveral, FL for the 2020 C8 Corvette Convertible. How did the car measure up? Wow.
The 2020 Corvette Convertible is just stunning. This car looks expensive, sexy, fast, and like it could definitely kick supercar ass.
Our partner site, Corvette Forum, covered the event with more details and pictures, so do be sure to check out their coverage for more.
And who wouldn’t want more of this? The power of the C8 comes from the all-new 6.2-liter V8 paired to an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic. This combo was made to slay, and is truly a euphoric experience behind the wheel.
The retractable top is brilliant, smooth, and brilliantly engineered. It only takes about 16 seconds to go topless. The two-piece top lifts up, folds back over the engine where it slides into its home, under a hard tonneau cover. This is a fantastic feature. Frankly, we might prefer this to the droptops of old.
The flying buttresses gives the new Corvette serious glow up in style and attitude. It looks more aggressive, slick, and very luxe. Check out that tail end. It is hard to believe that this smooth car is American-made and under $68K!
Inside, we see a very similar look as the C8 coupe. A lot of buttons, yes, but this is a driver-focused experience.
As for performance, it hits the perfect balance of beauty and beast. The specs are incredible: 490 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque stock, and 495 horsepower and 470 ft-lbs with the addition of the optional Z51 Performance Package.
We were thrilled over the new 2020 Corvette Stingray coupe, it definitely delivered. But truth be told, we might have loved this convertible a little more. It is exciting, and it feels new to the convertible market. The 2020 Corvette Convertible will make you yearn to feel the wind in your hair, yes, but it also gives the driver an exceptional high-performance ride. The C8 ‘Vette definitely shows that Chevy is ready to rumble.
