Custom 1957 Chevy Cameo Is One Rare (and Expensive) Build

1957 Chevy Cameo

With $250,000 invested and sporting an incredible pedigree, this stunning Chevy Cameo pickup hits the block with no reserve.

The Chevy Cameo was a groundbreaking vehicle, paving the way for trucks to become more than just crude haulers. But despite their importance in the scheme of automotive history, Chevy didn’t build very many of these highly stylized pickups. In fact, only 2,244 were produced in 1957. So the mere sight of a Cameo is obviously a rare occurrence, let along the sight of a heavily customized one.

While some might scoff at those that hot rod rare old classics, we can’t help but admire this incredible 1957 Chevy Cameo. The builder didn’t cut any corners here, either. With a reported cost of $250,000, this was obviously someone’s fantasy build. But now, that fantasy can become a reality for someone else, and most likely at a much more reasonable price. Because this Chevy Cameo beauty is hitting the block at Worldwide Auctioneers’ “The Texas Classic” auction with no reserve.

The lucky new owner is clearly getting a no-expense spared pickup. The super smooth body comes covered in orange metallic paint and ’57 Chevy passenger car trim/paint. Sitting low thanks to an Air Ride air suspension, the fat fenders hug the ground tightly. Not to mention a set of attractive alloy wheels.

On the inside, you’ll find loads of custom trimmed gray leather, modern stereo and air conditioning, and more orange. Power comes from a well-dressed V8 producing a claimed 500 hp, so you can bet this thing goes as good as it looks. And while this is clearly an older build with a little visible wear, it also has quite the history. After its completion at the Body Place in Huntington Beach, California, this Chevy Cameo went on to win Best in Show at the prestigious Oakland Roadster Show.  Now, the gorgeous truck is ready to win some more awards, this time with a new owner!
