GMC’s newest off-road midsized truck, the Canyon AT4X, is ready to take on the toughest obstacles.

“The GMC Canyon AT4X isn’t just another truck,” says a sultry voice for ROKR’s Drive Club‘s review. “It’s a statement.” Matt, the presenter for the channel, has a long list of positive things to say about the Canyon AT4X. With an updated grille, abundant ground clearance, aggressive four-wheel drive system and terrain selection software, this truck means business.

Off-road centric midsized trucks aren’t at all a new idea, but as technology advances, so do new cars. For the new ATX4, the factory lift that’s included increases the ride height to 10.6 inches — more than the Jeep Wrangler’s stock ground clearance of 9.7 inches. For added off-road agility, the approach angle of the Canyon is 36.9 degrees, making the ATZ4 truly ready for anything.

The interior of the all-American off-roader leaves nothing to be desired, as everything a buyer could ever want is ready included. A sensitive but user-friendly infotainment system, an essential information display screen alongside the digital gauges, and a seven-speaker Bose audio system that adds a welcomed layer to creature comforts.

The all-weather floor liners are accentuated by the red and white accenting of the ATX4 aesthetic, combining luxury and ruggedness, as Matt says. He also points out that the interior was so well done that he often forgets he’s driving a truck until he gets out of it or sees someone walk by.

For Matt, the terrain modes are all pleasantly different, but his favorite is the Baja mode. The Baja and Off-Road mode both alter the suspension, ride height and RPM ranges. Baja mode is specifically designed for off-road driving at higher speeds exclusively, while the off-road mode can be tuned for slow or quicker speeds.

While a 2.7 liter turbo-four doesn’t sound like enough power for a truck, GMC managed to optimize the engine to make over 300 horsepower and over 400 ft-lb of torque. And the towing capacity isn’t nearly as much as its older brother, the Silverado, but it’s still impressive for its size at 6,000 lbs.

Overall, Matt was incredibly satisfied with the truck, especially with the Baja mode — which he spent a majority of the video using and recording. At the end of the video, Matt explains that the ATX4 can truly do it all, and look good while doing it.
