Well-optioned and well-preserved, this classic 4×4 would be a dream truck for just about anyone.

The second-generation K5 Blazer/Jimmy is one of the most beloved trucks of all time. Beneath its squared-off, ruggedly handsome body lies one of the toughest 4x4s ever made.

Understandably, the K5 Blazer and Jimmy have an enduring appeal to GM fans. Well aware of this, GM kept it around more or less unchanged from 1973 to 1991.

Barn Finds turned us on to this eBay auction for a beautiful, baby blue two-tone GMC Jimmy. It’s a 1978 model, with a 350 V8 backed up by a four-speed manual transmission. Best of all, it’s a 4×4 to boot.

Everyone has a different color preference when it comes to K5s. However, fans can almost universally agree that two-tone color schemes look the best on these trucks.

The baby blue and white exterior is set off by a matching light blue interior. The condition is incredible, and the truck overall resembles a time capsule from the late 1970s.

The eBay auction reveals that this truck has just 55,000 miles on the odometer, and has been owned by members of the same family since new. Options include Rally wheels, a center console, and an AM/FM radio.

SUVs back in the 1970s were truly intended to be used as utility vehicles. Power options, a radio, a center console, and even carpet were often optional extras, and were seen as luxury items.

It’s a far cry from today’s SUV craze, where most vehicles in the segment trade off-road prowess for on-road comfort. Perhaps that explains the lasting popularity of trucks like the K5 Blazer.

It’s hard to imagine that there are very many K5s left in original condition like this. Most were used and abused, and many were modified. While tens of thousands were built each year, very few led the pampered life this one has.

If we were lucky enough to take ownership of this magnificent machine, we’d do our best to pick up where the previous owners left off. No off-road action for this survivor – just car shows, Sunday drives, and the occasional grocery run.
