Killer Chevy Silverado Build Embraces the Dark Side

Chevrolet Forum member takes his Silverado to the next level with a host of visual enhancements and a lift kit.

For most, the dark side symbolizes evil. The kind of unsavory folks and things that you typically want to avoid. Whether you’re talking about a dark alleyway or some heavy breathing dude in a giant black helmet. But for Chevrolet Forum member Gunslinger354, embracing the dark side of things is most certainly not a bad thing. At least when you’re talking about his sweet 2017 Chevy Silverado Z71 he likes to call “Black Stallion.”

The OP’s self-proclaimed dream truck started out that way, in fact, with a factory “black out” package. But he wasn’t content with leaving well enough alone, even though these trucks look great as is. In fact, he decided to continue what Chevy started by adding VHT Night Shades tint to all the lights, color match the Z71 decals and grille emblem, and add smoked cab lights. He also installed a black powder-coated bull bar, side steps, and tonneau cover to complete the look.

Of course, you can’t make a Silverado look this sinister without also giving it a mean stance. So on went a 3-inch front/2-inch rear lift. That kit even came with a rear differential drop to ensure the CV joint angle remained close to factory. The only thing left to do know is go tire shopping, which the OP is currently working on. But he’s having a bit of a hard time finding suitable off-road rubber for those factory 22-inch wheels.

Even with the modest factory rubber, there’s no denying how great this Silverado turned out. And we can’t wait to see it sitting on some knobby tires that fill up those now large wheel well gaps. So be sure and follow along as this build comes together by heading over here!
