Silverado EV Shows True Range on 3,000-Mile Holiday Drive
The Silverado EV trip will be part of the “Holiday Card to America” festivities that includes lighting Christmas trees and light shows.
This year Chevrolet will launch its fifth “Holiday Card to America” campaign. And this time it will not be celebrated with just a video spot. The campaign will be travelling to five different communities across the country. This special road trip is part of “Chevy Holiday Magic” which begins on December 1. There will be a caravan of vehicles that will travel 2,987 miles from San Deigo to Detroit. And what better vehicle to use for a long journey like this than an all-electric pickup truck like the Silverado EV? You might be thinking to yourself the answer to that question is basically anything else, but that is the point.
Chevrolet wants to show the country that the Silverado EV can be the perfect companion for long road trips. It is an opportunity to show off the 494 miles of range as well as the truck’s offboard power that allows the flexibility to use the truck’s battery to provide all-electric power to truck’s 11 outlets.
Holiday Lights
As the Silverado EV caravan makes its way from San Diego to Detroit, it will be stopping in Dallas, Nashville and Atlanta. The all-electric truck will help to light up events at each city.
This includes everything from illuminating a Christmas tree and a surprise light show, to powering a festive atmosphere where families can enjoy s’mores over a fire along with hot cocoa, to the tune of holiday caroling by local choirs. Local Chevrolet dealers will collaborate with Chevrolet on each event in each city.
Holiday Card to America Film
In addition to the road trip, Chevrolet will once again produce a short film to celebrate the season. And for the film the company is using a vehicle that is a bit less efficient than the Silverado EV. The spot will highlight a 1987 Chevrolet Suburban. The story is of an empty-nester couple’s holiday tradition, which is an annual drive to the family cottage in the trusty Suburban. The film includes a series of flashbacks of the couple making the same trip with their two children and the family dog filling the bench seat. A bench seat that now sits empty.
“As a father of three adult boys, the holidays give us the opportunity to reconnect, and cherish the traditions that bring us together,” said Steve Majoros, Chief Marketing Officer, Chevrolet. “This year, our focus was to invite people to remember life’s most special moments with family, with its ups and downs, and to find joy in the journey.” The 60-second version of Holiday Card to America will debut during the football game on FOX on Thanksgiving Day and on the Chevrolet YouTube channel.

The vehicles used on the road trip and in the film, spot show the range of the Chevrolet brand. The old family hauler and the new family hauler. The question is in 38 years from now, will an empty nester couple have fond memories of driving their children around in a Silverado EV? We will have to wait until 2063 to find out.
