The Biggest, Most Badass Chevy Trucks from Mecum Davenport

1972 Chevrolet K15 - Mecum Davenport 2019

From cool classic pickups, to big custom rigs, there was some Chevy for everyone on the green carpet in Davenport, Iowa.

Far away from the bright lights and warm winds of SEMA 2019 in Las Vegas, there was another four-day extravaganza filled with Chevy goodness. That would be, of course, the Mecum Gone Farmin’ Fall Premier 2019 at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds in Davenport, Iowa, held from November 6 through 9.

The Gone Farmin’ division of Mecum Auctions moves tons of vintage tractors a couple of times a year. This time, though, it would be the first time the division also dedicated some time to an entire block of vintage trucks, including these amazing Chevy trucks.

1972 Chevrolet Dump Truck - Mecum Davenport 2019

One of the largest Chevy trucks to come through the auction block — and one of the largest trucks of the vintage truck auction, period — was this 1972 C60 dump truck packing a 427 V8 under the clamshell hood. Most dump trucks don’t look this good, but this one was a showstopper with its metallic blue body and red frame.

And speaking of showstopping, the big Chevy did hold up movement along the green carpet for a moment while trying to exit through the garage door at the other end; that corner was a tight place to turn, to say the least. All was good once it was given enough room to back up to make the final turn, though.

1949 Chevrolet 4400 Stake Bed - Mecum Davenport 2019

Dressed up in the livery of California’s Paramount Dairy Farm, this 1949 4400 Stake Bed was fully restored in 2017. The entire cab wears a pretty shade of green, which makes the fresh wood stakes and white steel wheels pop. Upgrades include a new radiator with electric fan, and a 12-volt system. All the Chevy needs is a full load of filled milk bottles to complete the look.

1980 Chevrolet C30 Wrecker - Mecum Davenport 2019

Another nice work truck was this 1980 Chevrolet C30 wrecker. Draped in ruby red, the truck’s nose is protected by a full-width push bumper, while the bright red towing crane is ready to haul an ailing vehicle off to the repair shop. That said, the whole thing’s just too nice to use for towing, but for showing at the local car show.

When the work day on the farm is over, though, we’d want to take this 1972 Chevrolet K15 out for a night on the town. The 20-inch rotary-dial wheels ride upon a four-inch lift, all four of which are moved by a 350 V8. The whole affair has just 240 miles on it since its restoration, and it’s one of the most gorgeous pickups to hit the green carpet in Davenport.
