These days, not many people buy new vehicles and drive them as-is. Instead, they add at least one or two aftermarket parts, whether they be for looks or utility. But not everyone is a shadetree mechanic or master fabricator, and parts makers know this as well. Thus, this latest video from American Trucks – sellers of just about any kind of truck part and accessory one can dream of – outlines the top five easiest 2019+ Chevrolet Silverado mods.
Even better, each of these five Chevrolet Silverado mods is something that isn’t just easy to install – they’re also incredibly useful, and each can be added to the newest gen Bow Tie pickup at home with basic tools. That starts with one that takes seconds to “install” – floor mats, or in this case, Rough Country’s heavy-duty black front and rear mats – which are a no-brainer for anyone who wants to protect their carpet and make the interior much easier to clean. Since they utilize GM’s factory retainer clips on the driver side, these mats are a perfect fit, too.
The same concept applies to our next mod, Weathertech’s TechLiner bed liner. This perfectly molded part simply lays in the bed of the truck and protects its painted surface from damage, which is a must if you plan on hauling anything. And let’s be honest – that’s the reason most people buy trucks in the first place, right?
For those that plan on hauling things in the bed that they want to keep hidden from prying eyes, the next most obvious mod is a tonneau cover. Here, American Trucks highlights one of the few covers on the market that can be installed without any tools whatsoever – the Proven Ground EZ hard fold tonneau cover. This particular cover is held in place with a series of clamps, so it’s super easy to install and can be folded in a number of ways to make room for larger cargo as well.
Moving back to the interior, our next easy mod is WeatherTech’s under-seat storage system, which is great for storing smaller items thanks to its series of compartments. It also features a retainer strap to keep it locked into place while you’re driving around, and is virtually invisible when the rear seat is down. Overall, it’s a great way to store tools, jumper cables, or any other smaller items you would normally just stash under the seat.
Finally, we have yet another incredibly useful mod that many truck owners are keen to perform on their pickups – side steps. Some side steps are somewhat difficult to install, but Barricade’s 5-inch oval bend end side steps come with pre-threaded holes and a rocker panel designed to just bolt right up to the factory brackets. In about an hour with a ratchet and socket set, this is the most difficult of our five Silverado mods, but it’s still a one on a scale of five on the difficulty meter.
