Default 1988 C1500.4x2 long box

I bought this truck for parts. After getting it home and looked at it more it's a real straight truck. Thought I would get it running and see.if I can sell it and make alil money or just start ripping apart. Put a battery in it and triied starting it. It cranked but no start. Removed gas cap to hear for fuel pump, nothing. Smelled like bad bad gas. lPulled tank and found 15 gallons of.bad gas. Drained tank and pulled pump. Tank full of rust and varnish. How do I get all the rust out. I've heard of vinegar???? Is this right or should I try something else??? Diet coke???

Vinegar and baking soda, fill it up and let it sit for a while and rinse it out good.

Bought one from the local junk yard for 50 bucks and they took the old one. Will clean it out with that concoction and let you know. Thanks
