1998 chevy silverado help with 5.7
in short ive never had any issues with this truck for 22 years and 250k miles! what a great truck! lately i noticed when i start it up idle raises to 1500 floats around a bit then after a little goes to normal idle, if i drive it and lift out of the throttle seems to hang a second like coming to a stop sign it done just drop to idle like it should, even normal driving you get out of it and it lingers then drops. any advice greatly appreciated. Richie
Have you connected a code reader to it and checked for odb2 codes? May be a sensor or something acting up,and causing this behavior, and I will hazard a guess the computer codes will give us a clue…
Ok, given no codes, and no other misbehavior other than kinda being "sticky" on the throttle/RPM's, I am wondering if there is something up in the accelerator linkage, or the throttle position sensor.
In the trouble shooting section of my Haynes manual, for "excessive idle speed" they say to inspect for a sticking throttle linkage. If it's slow to return to position when you let off the pedal, that could be responsible for what you are seeing.
