Default 4l80e to NV4500 trans swap

I have a 95 k2500 extended cab. I know that I will have to change the drive shaft from the trans to the rear diff. Will I also need to change the one to the front as there's a 6+ inch difference? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also thanks in advance.

Going from an automatic to a stick is going to take lots of $$$ and time. Are you really sure you want to go that route with a non-OBD II vehicle?

Have almost everything except for drive shafts. Not willing to sink a ton of money into the automatic and have it fail again.
Also at some point later will do away with the computer and update the instrumentation. Winter is here and prefer not to be without it.

I understand you. My 1998 Chevy K-1500 has an NV-3500, and she shifts smooth as silk. I've only owned one pickup with an auto transmission. Never again.

The slip section of the front driveshaft will not account for a 6” difference.

Your choices are to find a replacement driveshaft for the front, have the existing one modified to fit, or have one made.

Search driveshaft repair in your area for a shop capable of modifying or building one - they will be the best chance of matching the length you need.

Picking up one driveshaft Monday and the other should arrive Wednesday. Also awaiting the arrival of bellhousing. Ordered it earlier in the month said it should ship out in a few days. I'll be so happy to finally get this thing going again.

Well the one I was supposed to pick up today turned out to be a bust. I'll call the only driveshaft place which is like 30 miles away if they know what the length is on the front driveshaft for the rear is. Dealers want the vin which does no good.

I doubt any dealer would be able to source a driveshaft anyway - typically any OEM parts for a 20+ years old vehicle have been used/sold by dealers and are long since out of production.

If the driveshaft shop can’t help, go to rockauto.com and look up your truck - they have multiple options for driveshafts (auto and manual trans) and the lengths are provided.

Also try to verify the u-joints you’ll need - I don’t know if the sizes changed between manual and auto trans but if the caps are different sizes, Moog and spicer make u-joints for these types of modifications.

Yeah I know all about how the auto industry is, if you can't give them numbers then they can't find anything. Looking it up on Google is like trying to find a needle in the ocean 🙄.
