Hey guys, I need some help. My old man has a 97 5.7L pickup truck that suddenly died on him while the truck was idling. Then he couldn't get it to start! It kind of tries to start but it sounds really pathetic. Like it could put more effort into I think lol. Anyway... So now he's replaced distributor cap and he checked the fuel filter and it was good. He thinks it's the pump. What do y'all think? It will start briefly when he sprays ether in carb. But it immediately dies soon after or as soon as he stops spraying the ether.. I started to go on and buy him a pump yesterday but I didn't make it to store in time..

 

When you turn on the key to you hear the fuel pump prime?

 

Do a fuel pressure test!
