Charging Issue
That’s what I’m thinking as well but they won’t exchange it for a replacement because it keeps testing fine on their machine, I’m half tempted to take it to another auto parts store or an automotive shop that tests the system and have them test it to see what they read out.
Good evening all, today I took the alternator off the truck and took it to the parts store to have it tested. I walked in asked them to test it and sure enough test #1 failed, test #2 failed, and test #3 failed. Unfortunately, the parts store didn't have one in stock so they had to order it from another store. The replacement will be at the store in the morning, after I exchange it and get it put in I will post back the results.
So I got home and had to wait a little while before putting it in because we were in a downpour, but after it stopped I went out and put the alternator in, got the truck running and sure enough, issue gone. I left the truck run for about 35 minutes waited for it to get up to temperature and went back out to check the charge and sure enough still at 14.1 volts on the dash, check it at the alternator and it’s 14.1 volts. Next time I hope the auto parts store will just listen to me. Thank you for the help that was provided to me. Now I have to figure out why my transmission line going to the radiator is leaking, but that is a simple fix, or at least it should be.
