Crossover Toolbox
I've got a 1990 C1500 Ext Cab - 2WD - Silverado. I'd like to put a crossover Toolbox in the bed of this truck. It's a wide-bed, 6.5' long. I've measured the bed rails from approx. outside edge to outside edge. It seems to be around 67". All the toolboxes I find seem to be 70" to 74" long, which would overhang the bed on each side. Yet, I've seen photos on the net of '88-'98 CK-1500's with Crossover Toolboxes that fit really nice and do not overhang the edges of the bed. Can anyone recommend a crossover toolbox brand Name and Model number that fit this truck and is still available? Thanks!

The overhang may not be as bad as the math suggests. Keep in mind that most bed panels have a convex shape which would offset the appearance of the overhang.
Since options seem to be limited, you can get a better idea of what it would look like by making a template of some kind. This could be as simple as cutting a single stick of lumber to 70” or constructing a frame the same width and depth of the toolbox you’re considering. Lay the template over the bed rails and then stand behind the tailgate to get a picture of what it would look like.
That said, I’d be making sure the inside rail-to-rail dimension is correct before worrying about the overhang.
