I Used To Be A Pretty Good Hack In My Time
But as I get older, even the simplest car maintenance can take on a life of its own. Ive had THAT leak on the passenger's side of the dash when it rains for all of the 16 years ive owned my 88 K1500.
About 8 years ago I removed that plastic cowl to try and figure it out. At that time I didnt understand that I needed to remove that oval metal plate and seal up a seam underneath it.
I decided to take another crack at it since I now know what needs to be done. 90 minutes of frustration and I could not remove the plastic cowl. I was able to get the 2 end pieces off and I did find all the screws.
It looks easy in the video. They remove the hood in the video, but I dont think it's necessary. It's wedged in there and no matter how I pry and twist it. It would not lift out.
It did not appear to be hung up on the wiper posts. I finally put it all back together and called it a day. If you have anything to suggest that I may have missed, let me know. I didnt have this issue the last time. But I was 8 years younger so who knows?
