Default Normal Oil Pressure and idol?

Hello all. I am pretty new to Chevy's. Had many a Fords in my time. I replaced the farm truck with a 1994 K1500 that I have been working on getting all the bugs out. So question is my oil pressure is or appears to be really low along with IDOL.

When I start the truck cold, it runs just under 40psi. One image shows the truck at about 100rpm at idol and thats where the oil pressure sits, The other image is at about 1400 rpms and you can see the oil pressure is a little higher but not much. I have no check engine lights. I did disconnect the IAC and the engine doesnt run any different. I feel like I had read that means its bad? but I dunno

Oil pressure at idol operating temp.

oil pressure at 40mph

gm says 10 psi per 1k rpms. i would be more worried about the idle speed being so low. most times theyre supposed to be between 600-800 ish

Yeah, she stalls alot while idling in gear. Sometimes I put it in neutral at lights to keep it running. Truck restarts every time though and in neutral or park she seems to idol at what seems normal. I saw and read online that some TBI's have an idol screw however this truck does not. I am not sure what to do but I have no codes and no check engine light

My 93 5.7l with 350k on it has run similar oil pressures fro the last 50-100k miles. I changed from 5-30 to 10-40 to 20-50 oil. Now I get about 10psi idle (idle on mine is 400-600 in drive) and about 20-25psi on the highway. Don't think you have an idle adjust screw but idle should be higher

Very interesting read! I thought the IAC is bad but I have no check engine lights however in neutral or park if I remember right, it idols fine or at a 650rpms +/- .

Any Idea as to why it would be off in the first place? I dont have any modifications?

I will give this a try, probably wont get to it until this weekend. thanks for sharing, great information!

I have a '97 K1500 with 5.0ltr v8, it runs at around 60psi on start up then drops to between 30/40 when warm.

I know it's been a while but did you find out what was causing it? I'm having that same problem with low oil pressure and rpms at idle with occasional stalling when shifting into gear .93 GMC 1500 5.7 tbi . all new fuel system and sensors have been replaced. I don't feel misfiring it's runs smoothly but if I give it a quick tap on the gas it sounds like a diesel truck for a quick .5 second and clears out .is that lack of fuel to anyone who could help.

Finally. Someone knows how to spell "idle"!
Did you try reading your codes? Checked your timing? "all new fuel system" is pretty vague.

Did you ever figure it out? I’m having the same issue. Made an account just to ask
