Default Oil pressure in 5.3L

What is the optimal oil pressure range for this motor?

My 2005 is as low as 30 on idle after it's warm. 50-60 if you get on it and run about 45 when cruising at 70mph.

That is normal once warmed up! Most trucks run 20 at idle and 40 at cruise. Mine runs 60 at cruise and 40 at idle but that's because I have a high volume oil pump.

I thought is sounded okay, just wanted to hear what others get. I've searched here and google for optimal oil pressure and didn't find much.

I just put 5w30 synthetic in for my first oil change(43k) after buying this truck used a couple months ago. Seems like the pressure dropped a tad with the syn.

Your oil pressure shouldn't be affected between synthetic and conventional of the same weight.

Your pressure is actually really good. I get about 30 at idle and maybe 45 cruising...but I do have an older truck as well. You said you have a 5.3L, so I'm guessing that its newer right?

ha, your lucky, mine 93 only runs about 30 cruising speed and about 10 at low idle in drive, it has been like this scince i rebuilt the engine 40,000 miles ago, just have to run 15-40 in it and wait for it to let go, then comes the 327 tucked away in the basement, then comes the questions on the forum about puting an engine in a truck that is 30 yrs older than the one that was in it

Mine runs real close to that until the engine warms up. once its warm, I get much better oil pressure.

I don't know if the fact that my engine is a big block 454 would affect the oil pressure, but at idle I get around 40/50, and cruising anywhere from 60 on up to 80. My truck takes 7 quarts of oil.
