Default oil cooler line re-install

I posted a query on necessity to re-install oil cooler lines on my 95 Burb [454]
I cannot get OEM lines anywhere..even from dealer [mine is the HD version according to glove box coding] Plenty of the china made versions [found one at rockauto..with a $249 delivery for coming week...and still not the hd version]
Have discovered many are now making their own using AN to NPT fittings. Which of course means not using original connector, My question is, the valve/flow restrictor [black cone-ish shape] sitting atop of the connector. Yes its a flow restrictor.. . purpose?...
Imperative? if so is there a workaround.
