Default PLEAS EHELP. Can’t figure out what gap size to use(Spark plug)

I have a 1995 Chevy Silverado c1500 5.7l v8
today I picked up some AC Delco rapid fire platinum spark plugs from the auto parts store. I told the guy at the desk my year make model all that and he had those on the list.

thing is they are and come gapped at .045
and everybody online says the 95 c1500 Chevy 350
is supposed to be gapped at .035

last time I changed my plugs 2 years ago I bought the same ones and just threw them in my truck and it ran good at .045

my question is. Is it ok to keep/put .045 in my truck or should I bring em down to .035’s

The OEM plugs are AC Delco CR43TS and gapped at .035.

The parts store often matches plugs by heat range and thread size/pitch, which is why they sell them as being correct for multiple applications.

If you didn’t notice any negative results from running them for the past 2 years, it’s unlikely they’ll cause any issues in the future.

Default Well I want the best performance out of my truck should I stick with the 45?

Or should I bring it down to 35. I had no problems but who’s to say putting them at 35 would make it run better.. their platinum rapid fire ac delco set at .045 from the store for my truck. Can I bring them down to .035?

Rapid fire plugs were designed for COP systems. The PCM can fire the plug multiple times per combustion cycle in order to burn the air-fuel mixture as completely as possible. This improves both emissions and performance but also results in the plug getting hotter.

Your truck utilizes a distributor and is limited to one spark event per combustion cycle, regardless of the plug. The PCM is limited to adjusting the timing of the spark only.

Anything is possible, but I think it’s highly unlikely you will notice any difference in how the engine runs/performs by decreasing the gap.

Default 1995 454 l19

Hi, I have a 1995 Chevy Suburban K2500 with the L19 454 cui.

I need to know to what to do. Coz I bought AC DELCO CR43TS 19354425 spark plugs due to be recommended for my Truck, but later finding out, that the Pre-Set Gap: is 0.044.
On my Airfilter box it says, my truck needs 0.035.

So I wonder what to do? Can I run those Delco CR43Ts or should I get other plugs asap?

Thanks for your response.

Im traveling. And I do not have a spark plug gapping tool.

So should I buy other spark plugs with a 0.035 gap and throw those AC DELCO´s away or could I continue driving?

So far I drove about 800 KM on the AC DELCO´s....

You can get feeler gauges at any auto parts store. If it's running ok no big deal, just re-gap them when convenient. Certainly don't discard new plugs that just need a gap adjustment!
