Default Source for Seat Foam or Covers for 1996 60/40 split bench (without fold down center)

My 1996 C1500 Cheyenne extended cab has what is apparently the rarest of rare front seats. It has a 60/40 split bench, without a folding down center console in the middle, and with the 60% part on the drivers side, 40% on the passenger side. Year models from 1988 to 1995 were apparently a 40/60 split with the smaller part being on the drivers side. Not sure why they changed it. But apparently this particular front bench seat was in about 5% of the GMT400's made, from something I read elsewhere. And while some Silverados had a 60/40 split bench, they included a fold down center armrest or console feature, whereas my Cheyenne the back of the seat has no fold down section, but is solid.

My drivers seat is pretty much trash, and has been held together with duct tape for years. The foam is absolutely shot, and this was apparently on a recent drive around town. Part of my slow restoration of the vehicle needs to include fixing that seat. The passenger side of the split bench, and the rear folding bench, are in near pristine condition.

I've found a few slip on seat covers, over at RockAuto, and even there it cautions you that this is a rare 60/40 split, and be sure you don't have the 40/60 split. But those are seat covers - what I really need is replacement upholstery and foam.

I hate the thought of spending a couple grand at a local shop, when I have the capacity to fix it myself if I can find the materials. I've found foam for full benches for that generation, and may end up buying foam for a full bench, and then cutting it down to fit. Still leaves the seat cover itself. Found those, but for a Silverado 60/40 split, but only the bottom seat cover would work, as the back cover is for that seat with the fold down armrest/console.

I know this is a long shot, but I was wondering if anyone else out there has ever come across covers or foam for this particular seat?

Thanks. Unfortunately, that is the seat for the Silverado 60/40 split bench, which has a fold down armrest/console in the right side of the drivers seat. My Cheyenne has a 60/40 split bench without that feature. I.e. just a seat back all the way across the 60%. The Silverado design the bottom of the seat is the same, but the seat back is 40%, then 20% folding center section. Then the passenger side at 40%.

Here is what the Cheyenne setup I have looks like (this is a picture of a seat cover someone sells):

This is what the 1996 Cheyenne 60/40 split bench looks like.

This is the Silverado 60/40 split seat:

The 1996 Silverado 60/40 split bench has a different seat back, with a fold down arm-rest in the center.

Where did you get the seat covers and about how much?

I have a '96 Cheyenne C1500 60/40 split on the driver side and no fold down armrest in the middle.

I have scoured the internet for covers that would fit but the few that I have found are several hundred dollars. I could probably swing $60-80 maybe $100 but not $200 or $300+

Please this truck was my grandfather's, then my dad's, and now mine. She has her quirks and I can't fully restore her but I can try to maintain or minimize future wear and tear.

Unfortunately, I had found some slip on covers for the 60/40 split bench on the 1996 over at Rockauto.com, but they apparently have stopped selling them since I posted that a year ago. I wish I had bought a set then!

If you have any links to share, please do so. We are in the same boat with that 60/40 split bench WITHOUT the center fold down console. From my prior research, only about 5% of 1996 C1500's came with that seat.

@GreenTruckB I think I found one for $119 on Amazon that is what you and I both need:

Amazon.com: Durafit Seat Covers Made to Fit 1995-2000 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra Front Low Back 60/40 Split Bench with Adjustable Headrests. Manual Controls, No Fold Down Console. Made in Dark Gray Velour. : Automotive Amazon.com: Durafit Seat Covers Made to Fit 1995-2000 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra Front Low Back 60/40 Split Bench with Adjustable Headrests. Manual Controls, No Fold Down Console. Made in Dark Gray Velour. : Automotive

See if that works for you. It took me 30 minutes searching AND using an AI (Copilot) to find anything like this, so I don't think there is anything still made for our oddball 60/40 split bench that is still made or sold.

Here is a link to the manfucturer website, where it sells for $149, but has other materials and colors available:

C967 1995-2000 Chevy Silverado, Tahoe, GMC Sierra and Yukon Front 60/40 Split Bench With Adjustable Headrests. Manual Seats, No Fold Down Console

Were you able to find any kits for this? I have been searching for the past couple of weeks, and just came across your thread. Its the only time I have seen anyone have this same. The only thing I could find was this person selling on instagram, but i worry that its probably fake.

@bdsherman Yep - those are my exact seats. And he is wrong in the listing that it is for 88-98, as that split was from 95-98.

I find that being on Instagram kinda sketchy. Who sells on Instagram? FB Marketplace, eBay, even Craigslist. None of those pictures have pricing or anything either.

I've almost resigned myself to paying $1000 or more to get the seats reupholstered at some point.
