Default Speed sensor

Hi,
my speedometer is not working
on my silverado 1988 mod
6.2 D automatic

Under my car i found å lose wire
conected to the speed sensor.
where can i connect the other end ?

Look for a matching plug on the wiring harness that connects to the rest of the transmission and transfer case. It runs down from the back of the engine above the bell housing.

You can also check for a plug from the harness that runs along the left frame rail.

The speed sensor is a direct input to the instrument cluster at connector cavities B13 & B16. If you can’t find a matching plug, you should be able to run a new pair of wires from the sensor to the cluster.

Keep in mind the “purity” of the sensor signal is integral to the correct operation of the speedometer. The original wiring would’ve been a twisted pair and it’s highly recommended to replace it with twisted pairing to reduce outside interference. Additional safeguards such as grounded shielding will help further eliminate interference.
