Default Spongy brakes 95 chevy

I've had the truck for about 5 years and the brake pedal has always been spongy I've replaced master cylinder brake booster front rubber lines over the years its been purged everytime some thing has been replaced that has to do with the brakes, just replaced rear brake shoes brake cylinder yesterday because I had never serviced them and they needed a replacement also hoping that the brake pedal would feel tighter but it feels the same as always maybe a little less but it still spongy it's also a daily driver and never really had any problems with the brakes I would just like to fix it as Im slowly restoring the truck, Ive been wanting to replace the abs module with one out of a junkyard to see if there's any change but i wanted to ask first if anyone has any ideas. thanks in advance! Ivan

Most likely ABS system has trapped air. There is an air bleed off on its body.

The better way to get air out of the system is with a pressure bleeder and a scan tool to open the valves to allow the air to exit out the bleeding point .May require all 4 wheels.

You have to have a friend pump it SEVERAL times, while you bleed. Pain in the butt but it will eventually bleed all the air.

Our 93 Sub had a recall to "improve brake feel". All they did was put a thicker pad on the pedal. It did give it a firmer feel. Just went out to look at the dealer sticker; code was faded/gone

Thanks for your reply did it actually work? I just replaced my rotors and brake pads not too long ago but when I changed them I didn't notice any improvements at all.. I might try that later on if I can't find a solution

Maybe check with the dealer regarding 93 brake recall repairs. I checked my maintenance log - in Aug 2001, safety campaign work included replacing brake master cylinder rod & a thicker pad on brake pedal. Did give it a firmer feel, though I did not perceive a problem before that. If the work was already done you should find a white sticker on the radiator shroud.
