Water pump
Hello everyone! I own a 91 Chevy tbi. I have replaced the pump maybe around 9 months ago. I bought the replacement from oreileys. It is leaking again from the same place as last time. Kinda on the bottom side of the pump… Im in need of some advice if I should buy a certain water pump. Im also looking into electric water pumps maybe but i dont know much about it. Please help me out with suggestions.
There is a weep hole on the bottom side of the water pump that will start leaking when the internal seals start failing. Sounds like the unit you got from O'Reilly was sub-standard. I imagine at 9 months old you can return it for a replacement under warranty - most parts have at least a 1 year warranty, and maybe this one will last longer. I've only had to replace the pump on my 1996 C1500 once in 29 years.
I don't think an electric water pump is an option for your 1991 C/K pickup.
Rockauto.com has water pumps ranging in price from $22.79 up to $112.79 for the GM genuine pump. They have an AC Delco (used to be GM) for $46 I would probably go with.

U should have bought part with lifetime warranty. Most likely weep hole to let driver know pump is getting ready to fail. Every part except AC compressor that I have purchased form them has had lifetime warranty. Maybe I have been lucky???
