04 2500hd 6.0 Broke Down, Stolen Cats, Wont Start
Ok guys, I need help!! Multiple variables including stolen cats!!!
I drove the truck pulling a trailer out of state to pick up a large mower. I began to notice a skip/miss fire when climbing some hills, more noticeable when pressing harder on gas pedal. Problem got worse on the return trip with the mower and more uphills, also heavy rain. Eventually it got to where i could not give it more than 10-15% throttle. It would only spit/sputter while pressing the gas pedal. If i let off, it would run fine. I nursed it for and couple of hrs trying to make it home but I came to a step hill and it would take any gas without spit/sputter, then it died and never restarted. Cranks strong, no start. Had to leave on the side of the interstate at 1am.
I got a ride home and returned the next day with a trailer to haul it home. I found the CATS were cut off and the o2 sensors wiring cut/damaged. Loaded it up and got it home.
Once home I put a fuel pressure tester on it and got 53psi with the switch on and 58psi while cranking. Next tried to crank the truck and it started and ran for 2 seconds and died. I tried spraying starter fluid into the throttle body with no help, no start. I then checked the plug wires and found that they were brittle and 3 broke off of the boot. I replaced the plugs and wires the next day and started the truck. Again it started and ran 2-4 second then stopped and never restarted.
So if it sits overnight it will start for only 2-4 seconds, then never hits a lick after. I smell fuel after attempting a start so i think its spark. Can the 02 sensors be gone cause it? Could it be a bad cam position sensor? Where do I go from here?
