Default 06 Silverado 1500 5.3l z71 stuck in 4 wheel drive

So I have rebuilt almost everything on this truck . I bought it with a new engine already on it , then I had a new transmission put on it and had the transfer case rebuilt and regeared to 4,10 and the rear end rebuilt and regeared to 4.10.
Just a little history before the problem .
so I have a stick shift 4x4, before I had the transfer case rebuilt I was doing some 4 wheel driving , I went to shift it out of 4x4 and it was stuck I couldn’t shift it . So I forced it out of 4x4 I hit the shifter hard it came out of 4x4 but the light stayed on the dash and has stayed on even after having the transfer case rebuilt . So even with the shifter in 2 high it’s still stuck in 4x4 , no matter what I have done it’s still stuck in 4 wheel drive and now it’s burned up a brand new pair of cv axles . I’m hoping someone from this forum can help with this issue I’m having .

Default So I figured it out

So after a few years of trying to figure this out I finally got it , so since the 4x4 light was on the front cv axles where locked in so it was like it was in 4 wheel drive . Well there is a sensor that sits on the transfer case that controls the light . Easy fix and the truck is out of 4x4
