2 blown 4l60e to make 1 good one?
I blew a 4l60e in my '01 Silverado 1500. Ran 1st gear into high rpms and big boom, like it exploded into 2nd. Lost 2nd, reverse, and overdrive. Was able to drive it still to the place I did the swap at. Swapped that out for a used 4l60e from an '04 I think. I must've crushed my pump when I installed it... I thought I had an exhaust leak but it was coming from the bell housing. I drove it one last time to get the kids to school and as soon as I made it I lost all gears in the entryway. Probably 100 miles I got out of it.
What are the odds the torque converter from the first transmission is good, and the gears are still good from the 2nd transmission? Probably burnt them up? I have a totaled Tahoe with a 4l60e I could direct swap over, but when it gets warm driving on the freeway, I get off the freeway and it bucks kinda hard into 2nd and 3rd gears. Appreciate any advice, I've had my truck parked for two years and I'm finally motivated to get it back on the road.
