Default ABS Wheel Speed Sensor

First time user of forums.
First time user of forums.
I have a 2002 Chevy Silverado 2500HD with 83000 miles. The issue is the truck pulls to the right when braking. I also hear what seems to be a grinding noise when I depress the brake pedal at low speeds. I have had the front end aligned, and the brake system is in good working order. I changed out the ABS front left wheel speed sensor, but the vehicle still pulls to the right and the noise still exists.
I'm not getting any codes or indications of a problem. My question. does the abs sensor require a shim under the sensor. The unit I installed didn't come with one. And I didn't notice a shim with old sensor but there was a lot of rust that I scraped off.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Welcome - the sensor should not make your ride pull when braking, nor cause grinding noise when braking. I would look again at brake hardware - rotors, calipers, pads...
If it pulls right then the offending parts should be on the right side.

Default ABS wheel speed sensor

Thank you for your response. According to 1aauto.com a bad sensor would cause the vehicle to pull to one side. It's more of a pulsating in the pedal and not a grinding. I apologize for using the wrong term.I'll probably ask a mechanic at the nearest chevy dealership if a shim is required under the sensor.

shim is not required. if you shim it you will cause the sensor signal to drop out a low speeds. signal drop out will cause a false abs activation.....the abs pump valves will dump pressure....the pedal will sink to the flow and the valve cycles will sound like a buzz noise and the pedal will vibrate.

if the sensor has rust build up on the hub....it creates drop out.

Thank you for responding to my post. I'm going to pull the sensor and clean the hub again. I may have missed some rust when I replaced the sensor, and as you stated it is probably causing the issue I'm having.
