The GM Genuine fuel pumps from rockauto.com are what GM considers to be OEM parts. They are the same parts that a GM dealership would install/sell to customers. Additionally, the GM Genuine fuel pumps come with a lifetime warranty.

GM has "reorganized" how they market their auto parts. Their OEM parts are now labeled GM Genuine Parts or ACDelco Original Equipment Parts and come in a box that is blue and white. GM's aftermarket parts come in two quality levels - Gold and Silver. The just below OEM quality parts come in boxes that are gold and white, while their "value" quality/line of parts come in boxes that are silver and white.

So they have three lines of parts now. Wow.

So how can a person tell (when browsing rockauto for instance), which parts they are looking at -- OE or "aftermarket"? They don't show the package color.

 

Easiest way to tell the difference is by reading the description for the particular part by clicking on the info button in the part description.

Using my 2004 TrailBlazer as an example first up is the page listing the various fuel pumps

followed by the page that shows up after clicking on the info button

On the more detailed part information page you will see where it comes up with a GM Genuine Parts header and then in the detailed part description it again states it is a GM Genuine part.

Now, to show multiple GM/ACDelco part listings for a single product, brake pads, if you go to

and look at the "Daily Driver" section, you will see listings for ACDelco Gold/Professional and GM Genuine brake pads.

Confusing? You bet it is. It was so nice when there was only one or two choices for parts quality - "Best Quality" or "Good Quality". Now they have umpteen zillion different part quality levels and to confuse us even more, each level has its own advantages and disadvantages. Plus, most of the parts stores employees are clueless as to what makes a part decent or a piece of cr@p.

Yes. Very confusing.

For mr romiin, there are FOUR "GM Genuine" pumps in the 'daily driver' section. (No GM stuff in 'economy')
None says ACDelco. None say Gold or Professional.
M10101 has no level sensor.
The MU1415 says "include a durable GM Genuine GM OE Fuel Level Sensor in addition to the GM Genuine GM OE Electric Fuel Pump and its associated components.", but it also also says it's for California (probably why it's the most expensive)
The M10104 (no sensor) and MU1417 (with sensor) say "Manufactured to GM OE specification". So I'm guessing this is the one the factory put in. Maybe that's the key phrase to watch out for.

 

Thanks for the great info.. Because my gas gauge is acting up a bit I think I might need one with a fuel level sensor. for 247.00 Canadian But I see the most expensive GM genuine pump also as the (sender) and level sensor for 424.00 Canadian. Do I need to get one with a evap connector, not sure how I can tell if mine would have one. Thanks

 

they all say "Evap Emissions Required (EVA)" in the main listing.
EVAP has been required since the 70's
I think it's just a nipple for a vapor hose

Like I said, the most expensive one is for meeting Californistan requirements. You don't need that one.
