Hello; Droev the truck about 60 miles yesterday. All seems OK so far. I was to get a kitten from a lady who works at a local store but she gave it to someone else when she found I live by a busy rural highway. Als that I planned to have it live out side. Since my carport is about 30 feet from the house did not see much value of an inside cat.
I do have another cat owner who might give me some used cat litter. I plan to spread that around the carport. I have been spraying some peppermint oil solution on the tires and under the hood since i got the truck back. Peppermint smell is supposed to deter mice.

I did check LMC trucks but the 2004 is too new for them.

Plant some mint around your carport as well. Used kitty litter is a good idea.

As far as having an outside cat goes, whether it be 30 feet or 3000 feet from a "busy rural highway", an out door cat will go where it wants to go regardless of the distance! If you do want a cat, I would recommend going to the local humane society or a cat rescue group and get one that has been an outdoor cat as indoor cats are worthless as outside mousers. Mousing is a learned activity for cats passed down from mother to kitten.

2004 to new for LMC? Gee, that is where I got the door seals 2 years ago for the 1999 Silverado we used to have. Oh well, give them another year!

Hello; Had another thought about the lack of factory or aftermarket wire harness parts. The guy at the shop told me my era Chevy truck was bad for mice in the wires. My guess is my truck being 19 years old all the new stock is used up. I do hope the old truck aftermarket will start making replacement parts.

Great suggestion about getting an outdoor cat. I will look into that.

Hello; Have an interesting update. First the truck has been running fine so the repair is doing OK. Next I decided to further remove any potential for rodents to get into my truck. I have been hanging some moth ***** in a mesh bag under the hood. I also decided to pull the soffit from the carport to evict the squirrels. Took a few days. There was a lot of nesting material and walnut hulls.

Here is the newest interesting twist. I had to know for sure if the 4x4 is working. The 4x4 indicator light has been coming on, but it is hard to tell if the 4x4 was actually engaging. So, i jacked up the truck and put it on jack stands. Started it up and put it into 4x4. All worked fine. But the anti-lock brake light came on and stayed on when I stopped the spimming wheels with the brakes. . I thought I had messed up. I took the truck down. Started it up and backed it for maybe 30 feet then stopped. The light went out so i was relieved. Here is the interesting thing. Since that day the brake pedal has been staying some higher and feels more firm. I tested to be sure the brakes are releasing properly, and they are. So, it seems like a positive.
