Electric Fan Conversion Documentation
Hi y'all, I'm new to this site. I have a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD LS 6.0L V8 4x4 extended cab with the 6.5" bed (or whatever length it is), my truck currently has 272k miles on the odometer.
As suggested by the title, I'm deleting my engine fan and installing a new radiator that has electric fans built in. The factory installed radiator I have in my truck is leaking coolant from the aluminum crimp to the plastic part of the radiator, which is the whole reason for the replacement and upgrade for my truck specifically.
To get things started, here is some background information about me:
I work at a factory that builds bucket trucks, sometimes referred to as the "Cadillac of bucket trucks", Altec inc. I won't go into detail for the simple fact that not doing so will protect my identity and my company's public view. The only reason I mention it is because I have 10+ years experience in adding electrical accessories to trucks used by real life customers who work in the industry of telecommunications and electric companies. I work in the assembly area of this company.
I am by no means an electric engineer, I have almost no engineering experience.
I do have a knack for installing parts to vehicles, in my free time I'm an amateur mechanic for passenger vehicles. I've done all kinds of work from replacing transmissions to rebuilding engines and everything in between.
I am a United States Army veteran, my specific MOS was 91A M1 Abrahms tank system maintainer.
I have a firm grasp of electronic devices and troubleshooting.
I'm certified through IFPS, mobile hydraulic mechanic (CFPMHM).
I have a high desire to keep my Silverado on the road for many years to come.
Purpose of this post:
My main goal of this post is to have a place to document the installation and conversion to electric fans on my truck. This installation will be compatible with many makes and models up to 2007 (maybe beyond, results will vary depending on make/model). I will make a separate post detailing how-to and the wiring of components, which will include what products I used and the addition of a fuse/relay box. I'm in process of drawing a schematic as well.
Any feedback is welcome, in this post I mainly want to see how much interest is in this subject!

I've had some issues with obtaining electrical wire for this project but that issue has been resolved. I will update soon, my radiator will be replaced and I will have a step-by-step how too soon, within the next month or so. Sorry for the delay!
