Engine stalled
That is an important part of fuel system testing.

I also like to check the pressure with a bit of load on the engine by revving it a bit or even going for a drive. The pump needs to deliver volume as well as pressure.

If you have an Android device, the following OBDII code reader/live data scanner can be purchased for under $25.00 and you can store the live data for various parameters for analysis on a PC at a later time.
plus download the Torque Pro app from the Google Play Store - it's a one time $5.00 licensing fee.
I use this very setup as my main OBDII code reader/live data scanner and it is very flexible and powerful for diagnostics.
Good Luck!

To update and have closure, we have it running. My friend/mechanic brought his scanner over and there were no codes. After going over various things, he wanted to check spark again, but he pulled the coil wire off the cap and watched the spark from there. He said it was yellow, not the sharp blue snap. He pulled the cap off and the lugs were corroded. So we scraped and wire brushed them clean. Put it back on and it fired right up! Now this jogged my memory, because this has happened before a number of years ago. Went out to drive away one day and it didn't start, just over and over with the starter. That was the first time I used the refrigeration gauges to check fuel pressure, it was fine then too. But this same guy said to put a new cap and rotor and it fired back up. I had forgotten all about that.
So I'll be getting a new cap and rotor again.

Bless!
I'm currently having this same issue. 2005 Silverado 1500 LS 4.8 V8 380+ miles.
Was driving fine with no problem(s) from SC-FL. Then it just started to jerk a little on the highway in traffic during takeoff. Traffic stopped and it repeated itself afterward.
Was coming off of the highway (Davennport,FL), stopped and this time it was a big jerk. It repeated itself a 2nd time, making you think that it was the tranny, but it shifted with no problem. And then it stalled but kept running. Picked itself up and barely allowed me to get into a 7-11 lot. No leaks.
My buddy located an AutoZone literally a few minutes away. Reversed and made it there, but it stalled and didn't allow me to fully park.
They tested it and said the tranny needed sensors. Tow truck arrives 5 hrs later (no comment), it reverses but stalls again.
Towed 130 miles to my destination. Mechanic says the tranny. Left FL and had to wait for my truck to be transported back to SC (arrived the past night: $900 - p'd off). Coming off of the trailer, it drove with no problem. Though it stalls, it keeps running.
Explained this to others before it arrived and they're saying that it's the fuel pump. Will have it diagnosed today.
Asking what do you think? The best brand pump? If replaced, do I add fluid booster? Does need front and rear seals (was leaking), oil and valve covier gaskets. Oil pressure sender and sending unit. Oil cooling block. It just came with more problems other than these that I knew about.
This should have been a quote, huh?
