Default Hard braking did some WEIRD stuff

[2002 Silverado 5.3 auto, NP246 transfer case]

I braked a bit harder last week than I normally do, but afterwards, my ABS and brake lights came on, speedo stopped working and trans won't shift out of first. I scanned, no SES light or stored codes from what I could gather (using ANCEL AD610 Pro), outside of a C0236. I replaced the VSS sensor, assuming that was the issue (with an OEM) and both it and the one I replaced test fine with ohm reading, btw (1.4k ohms for both). And I replaced the correct one, as this was on the driver's side, with the pigtail containing a purple wire and green wire.

I checked 60A ABS big fuse, IGN E fuse and the ECM B fuse, all checked out with continuity test pulled from fuse box, so 100% sure they're good. I cleaned the ground behind the driver's side front tire, realizing it was a ground I missed cleaning from awhile back. Lastly, I disconnected the battery for 15 minutes, reconnected and the ABS light immediately came on.

Perhaps the most perplexing part of this is the wiring test I concluded from VSS pigtail to PCM. Here's a visual that describes the problem:

So the purple wire that SHOULD be going straight to pin 21 is actually grounded with chassis and even has continuity with pin 20, and the green wire from the pigtail is just dead. It has no continuity with pin 20 or 21 or chassis ground.

My question is what in the WORLD could have caused this??

Problem solved. I ran a new pair of wires in a dedicated harness with a new pigtail and pins for the PCM connection. It's a straight shot from the VSS pigtail to pins 20 and 21 on the PCM, one of the more straight-forward electrical fixes it seems.
