oil filter removal
Hi, I have a 2004 silverado 2500HD with 4wd 6 speed std trans and a 8.1L 496. I am changing oil for the first time. The oil filter is excessively tight and none of my 4 removal tools will work because of limited space. What tool do you use. I got it off...thanks to a 3 foot bar and a 4lb. hammer.

I use a filter wrench like in the link. It always works for me and gets into tight places

I use one similar to this but I got mine from Cornwell tools. With these types of wrenches you get what you pay for - my first I bought from Harbor Freight (or similar cheapo brand - can’t recall) and it didn’t last for one filter before the teeth skipped.
My second was from Craftsman - got plenty of filters loose but eventually one of the jaws broke.
I’ve only had the Cornwell for about a year but what I like most (besides the lifetime warranty) is it’s reversible so it’s good for tightening filters in tight spaces as well.
