I just changed my encoder motor and now my transfer case is stuck into neutral. The switches work. Whenever I try shifting into a gaer I hear a click but it just switches back to neutral. If I turn it into R or P it makes a horrible grinding noise.
its a 2005 chevrolet silverado 5.3l with 4x4 auto

 

grinding noise would suggest internal failure
