The Service 4WD light came on my 05 Z71, 5.3 engine. First thing I did was change the 2WD TC fluid. Changed the 2WD sensor motor. I’ve changed almost everything that can be changed. It eventually got stuck in neutral (transport mode?).

I’ve watched so many videos and they all say how to get INTO neutral, but not a single one tells how to get out of it. I did learn how to manually change gears at the TC, and am now stuck in 2WD. But at least I can drive it. Can anyone shed some light on this for me please?

 

Did you check for fault codes in the transfer case control module?

 

Yes, my brother has a better code reader than mine. We went through every code it gave us, checked out each thing, I can’t remember all the code numbers, but nothing helped.

 

Does anyone else have any suggestions? Another issue came up. One of the big fans quit working. Bought a new assembly and still only one fan working. My brother is an electrician and will try to track the fault down in a few days, when it cools off around here. (Iowa)

Could the transmission problem be electrical too?
