Default 2007 Silverado doesn’t shift to park

About a week ago my shift cable broke, I got the new one put in and it wouldn’t adjust so I got another one and put it in and now I still can’t put it in park. Now the shifter has play in it from reverse to park, I’m starting to wonder if I have a problem in the column. I’ve been adjusting it for over a week and still can’t seem to find park. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Default Still no park

Can anyone tell me about how far the adjuster should be pushed together? If I push it together as much as I can, it doesn’t register any gear like it’s between reverse and park. Is there anything else I can do to get it to park? Is there something that needs to be reset?
Thanks in advance.

Is the bracket suppose to be really close to the transmission pan?
