2008 Silverado 1500 - Engine Hot/AC Turned Off
Hi all, am getting an error message that says 'Engine Hot- AC Turned Off" in my dad's 2008 Silverado V6. The ac does turn off. The temperature gauge goes to 0 and the radiator fans go full blast. The engine does not overheat. I can reset the code and correct everything by disconnecting the battery with the key in the "on" position for about a minute or so. This was happening every 5 or 6 days of driving. Now it is happening about every other day. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Anyone know the cause and solution? Thanks.
the message appeared again. I had heard about the fact of low quality replacement parts being sold, but wondered if my engine coolant needed changed. The level was not low, but I had never done a flush, think perhaps debris in the coolant had clogged up the gauge's functioning.
I changed coolant by a flush and so far on my third month, the light has not come on.
When the light came on, my engine in fact was not hot and a cooling fan ran in error, thinking the engine was hot.
