Frame rust question
I have a 2008 silverado LT crew cab.
my driver's side frame rail is rusted pretty bad. I was quoted 2500 to cut out repair that side and then prime, undercoat and seal the whole frame.
The amount being repaired is from the ahead of the cab to about the center of the box.
The truck is paid for, the body has no rust the interior is clean and shines.
With 170k miles it runs like a champ. I do need to upgrade the valve cover in hopes of eliminating the smoke at start up sometimes..
The question is.... Is it worth it , would anybody else pay to do this repair.. Nada still books at around 12k, I paid 8k for it 9 months ago..
Your thoughts....

$2500 is pretty cheap. Don't undercoat though. Just paint.

Yeah, undercoating is a waste of money. The salt will get behind it and it'll rust even faster.

$2500 is a good price.
Stay away from the rubberized undercoating. There are oil based undercoatings available that work well but they do require more frequent applications.
