I have a 2012 2500HD with 6.0 lit. engine. I noticed a wet spot under the truck and after investigating I found water/coolant dripping from the rubber tube coming out of the firewall. If it is the heater core how big of a job is it to replace?

Any advise is appreciated

It is normal for condensation to leak out there. If it is water you are OK, if it is a mixture of antifreeze and water, you likely have a heater core leak. You possibly can find instructions on u tube, if not you will need to consult a shop manual for the procedure.

 

Thanks, yeah I have recently noticed a loss of coolant. So I am pretty sure that is the culprit.

A/C Evaporators don't often cause issues, since R-134A isn't particularly corrosive, as H20 is. Problem is that lots of people don't change their coolant on time, and also never run the heater during hot summer weather, which flushes out the stale anti-freeze coolant, thereby preventing corrosion.

The OP's options are to use a sealant like Alumi-Seal, or Bars-Leaks, or spending lots of $$$ replacing the heater core, should that fail. .Underdash repairs are time-sensitive, thus making the work very labor quite expensive.
