Coolant stains
My heater core just went bad in my 94 truckand leaked onto my carpet, fixing the heater core is no big deal but what's the best thing to use for cleaning the carpet and getting the smell out? Also how difficult is it to wrestle the heater core out? I imagine it can't be that hard but ya never know.
Yea it didn't leak too bad really, but your right that smell just doesn't go away. Is there something good I could buy at advance or autozone? I have no clue what your talking about heater box but I took off the cover with 4 - 7mm bolts and there was the core, easy as hell to take out and replace, took me all of 30 minutes to do completely.
Yea, well i've heard that before, it must be for newer models you have to do that, I dunno. I looked in that haynes manual and he said all kinds of crap. Like disconnect the negative on the battery, take out the glove box, completely unhook the ecm and remove it, disconnect the heater controls and remove the overflow tank. Stuff like that, weird.
Resolve carpet cleaner you can get it at any supermarket- use it four times the recommended mix with a handheld motorized carpet cleaner and it should help with the smell.
If you are just scrubbing it with a cleaner it will not do the job, you have to soak it and then suck out the antifreeze with the cleaner. Leave your windows down if you can for a day or two after to let it air out. If that does not work you probably will have to get under it to clean the padding also.
