Wrong size tires installed at dealership?!
Hello, I am new to this thread and to the Chevrolet brand. I am not a truck expert so I am seeking some more experienced advice.
I bought a 2013 Chevy Silverado 4x4 LS from the dealership. I went into Costco to look at new tires and the gentleman I spoke with told me that the dealership who sold me the truck actually put on the wrong tires. The tires that were SUPPOSE to be on my truck are 265-70-17's while the dealership sold me 245-65-17's. Given that the height and width are different, I am wondering if their is any cause for concern? I did replace the tires with the correct size, but I was wondering if with the incorrect tire size might have caused any damage or further wear? if any damage might have been done to the truck itself? If the tires might have worn out more quickly given their smaller size, can I hold the dealership fully responsible for the new tires I've recently purchased?
Thank you in advance,
Ray

as long as all 4 tires on the truck at the same time were the same brand and size it will not cause any damage. It might change the speedometer accuracy and trans shifts points if the ebcm tire size wasn't set to the new tire size. if the speedo is accurate now...your golden.
running mismatched tires or worn that differ in circumference will stress the tcase when running in 4wd as the front and rear axles rotate at different speeds.
as long as the old tires were the correct load range...you didn't need new tires. you could run the smaller tires all day....just get the tire size changed in the ebcm. the smaller tires would have rotated 40 more revolutions per mile...tire wear wise its f-all.
