I am tired of this truck already and want to trade up to a 2nd gen but it lost its value so quick im upside down. I have had nothing but problems with it. The worst was while I was taking a drive in the mountains, I all of the sudden lost power. I had to limp my truck back into town because I could not call for a tow due to no cell service. They said a spark plug wire fell off and they had to replace it. I got the truck back went back up in the mountains and it did it again. I was able to limp the truck back in both times thank god because I am a disabled vet and cant walk very far. Now im fearful everytime I take it out of cellphone service cause I don't want it to break down and leave me stranded. Its been in the shop more for warranty work and recalls then its been out on the road.

I have a 2015 Silverado LTZ with under 500 miles, and three fun weeks. The truck has spent the last seven days having the AC system rebuilt at the dealer, and I still don't have it back.
The symptom was driver side AC blowing cool (not cold), and passenger side blowing warm.
Dealer has performed the following repairs in this order:
1. Reset the AC head unit...apparently there was a factory bulletin on this.
2. Re-charge refrigerant, as it was reported to be under charged.
3. These didn't work, so dealer called factory tech service, and was told to replace the AC compressor and the thermal control valve.
4. Replaced AC compressor and thermal control valve. Now the driver side blows ice cold, but passenger side still blows warm.
5. Factory techs now recommend replacing a servo operated vent deep in the dash.
6. The dash is removed, and the servo vent door was found defective.
7. The dash is being replaced, in what the service manager tells me is like a "science project"
8. After 8 days in the dealer, I'm told the truck might be ready tomorrow!

Two questions for the forum:

1. How does a truck leave the factory with a bum compressor and defective vent?
2. What should I tell GM to do with the truck?

Hello Bhhumphrey,

We truly apologize for the unexpected concerns with your new Silverado! We would never want this to be the kind of experience you have with your new vehicle. However, we are happy to hear that you have been working with the dealership in finding a possible resolution. Feel free to send us a private message along with your VIN, current mileage, contact information and dealer. We would be happy to look into this more on our end as well.

We look forward to your response and possible new updates today!

You truly apologize for delivering a vehicle that requires over 8 days of rebuilding at the dealer?

And you are happy I'm working with the dealer...? I'm sure the dealer is thrilled to have a customer with a brand new truck that they have to completely disassemble because it left the factory with major defects unnoticed.

How happy is a customer who plunked down $50K for a truck, only to have the dealership have to tear it apart. You think your apology helps?

Wow.

Oh...you want an update on the dealers self proclaimed "science project" of reassembling my entire dash?

Its not done. In the meantime I'm driving a non GM vehicle that actually runs....GM seemed prerplexed that the loaner vehicle I might need would be an actual truck....

Hello,

I'm sorry if my response upset you. This was not the intention. As we are not experts in vehicle diagnosis, we rely heavily on the dealership to provide us information and updates on vehicle concerns.

We would like to make this right, and utilize all of our resources to look into this more. If this is something that you would like for us to do, please feel free to send us a private message.

1. I don't know how mine and yours came from the factory that way. Maybe they were built on a Friday and their quality controls guys were drunk. Or have become so complacement in their cushy Union job they don't care what leaves the factory.

2. I would contact your dealer and see if you can Switch to a different one. Yours is obviously gonna give you problems forever. Some dealers have a return policy and if it's only got 500 miles and has been in the shop the whole time should not be that hard. I wouldn't trade it in since you'll probably end up stacking negative equity onto the new loan.

If that does not work I would check your states lemon law. And if all of those fail open a complaint with Chevy. They'll probably do to you what they do to me and offer free accessories. Yea just what we need. Put accessories and your truck that no one we'll ever see because it's in the shop.

I opened a formal complaint three days ago with Chevy corporate. #71-1483486048.

Guess what? I haven't heard anything from them since.

Want another update? Truck still being rebuilt. From what the service manager tells me (and he seems like a straight shooter), they have had their best tech working on the dash for over two full days.

The people at Chevy are pretty good at least at being middleman between you and the dealer. At least sometimes. Mine this claim is doesn't sound like she wants to help me much and sounded like she was reading off a script. The one I had before this was very pleasant. Just be clear the outcome your looking. For me is getting into a different truck. Sounds like you got a horrible one from the factory. Iv bought four Chevy's over the years and this is one is the only one that has given me grief. I'm now just asking for them to help into a different 1500 because mine is in the shop every other month for something new. If they don't, im sorry to say this is the last Chevy I will buy.

Have to give the dealership guys their due....they have been trying, and the service manager has his best tech on the job. I'm not pressuring them, because I just want them to fix it right. Has to be frustrating for them to get a new truck like this and have to take it apart because it wasn't built right.

Anyway I'm torn between just telling Chevy to give me a new truck, or getting them to give me a maximum extended warranty. Its now 530 PM friday and its not ready...so I'll probably go another weekend without it...
