Question Cabin air filter r&r woes 2017 2500HD WT

Hello all, just a quick question re: my recent cabin air filter r&r that I did on my 2017 2500HD WT 4x4 double cab. Just shy of 50k miles, I did my FIRST cabin air filter replacement. Now, I doubt that in my first 2 year dealer coverage period it was ever changed - I'm pretty sure my job was the first.

Anyway - question here is this: has anyone unfortunately had the experience of removing the old cabin filter, and having accumulated crud and debris fall down into the top of the fan motor assembly? This happened to me, even though I had thought I was being very careful. I only realized that FOD (Foreign object damage) had occurred after turning on the truck, and hearing a nice "roaring" sound coming from the fan at higher speeds.

So, any ideas on how deep i need to go to in order to clean the fan motor and make the noise settle down?

Thank you.
Adam
