Default EBCM replacement help

My 2015 Silverado is popping the 25a ABMS fuse Dealer wants to replace the EBCM and Pump valve. I'm know my way with most mechanical and electrical repairs but this would be new. I would replace the EBCM and hope it fixes the fuse problem. Pump valve replacement seems like overkill. Does the module need to be reset or reprogrammed or is it plug and play? Should I pay the $2k or get out my torx socket and get busy? Any help would be appreciated.

no idea what the fault is...but if the short is in the bpmv you could damage the new ebcm.

get a used one from a wrecker....make sure the donar vehicle has the same brake options.

brake pressure modulator valve replacement is a little harder....all the brake lines must be removed from the modulator and then the brakes must be bled and an abs pump system bleed with the scan tool. it only needs programming if you want the vin in the ebcm to match.
before you remove any brake lines...set a bar on the brake pedal to keep it applied slightly. This moves the m/c piston and closes off the ports to the reservoir...this keeps the master from draining out so you don't have to bleed the master cylinder.

hopefully you don't live in the rust belt and the flare nuts spin freely from the brake lines. have a good penetration fluid handy.

Cleveland Ohio ☹️
Thanks for weighing in… I am hoping to not have to replace the BPMV for reasons you outlined “bleeding system”, is the electrical connection between the two modules accessible? If yes would you agree that by removing this connection and checking for a short through the EBCM, would eliminate the BPMV as a possible issue?
Thanks for your help!!

can't comment on the testing without knowing what fault code is set.
yes, the ebcm can be changed in vehicle. unplug connector and remove screws holding it to bpmv

Thanks for your help... The only fault code I can find using a basic scan tool is a rough idle code. There is no other code displayed...

I'm still looking for advice on replacing the EBCM... I understand that a used EBCM will not require re-programming but if I purchase a new AC Delco EBCM will the new EBCM that i install need to be reset or reprogrammed by the dealer or can I simply replace the module, install a new fuse and assume that it will perform like the original?
Also... any recommendations for suppliers for a new module would be much appreciated...

Thanks in advance for any help

ebcm codes are chassis codes. they can't be read with a cheap code reader. a full function scan tool is required. if the abs or stability control light on illuminated a chassis code is set.

a new module from any supplier will require programming.

Thanks!! I now understand the logistics if I replace this module myself... Used EBCM will not require dealer programming unless I want my trucks VIN registered inside the module. Any new module purchased and installed will require dealer configuration of the module to operate...
I also now understand why my scan tool only listed P code descriptions...
My next steps are to purchase a full function scan tool, and contact the dealer to determine cost for configuring the new EBCM.. I'm not yet ready to purchase the EBCM but hopefully soon.

Todays update... Thanks for the heads up on dealer cost for reprogramming...
I disconnected the connector and removed the old EBCM and was pleasantly surprised how easily the 4 Torx screws backed out... leads me to believe that the dealer tech removed the EBCM when I had it diagnosed... with the EBCM removed (disconnected from the BPMV) I reconnected the cable connector and inserted a new 25a fuse which immediately blew. I concluded that the short is in fact in the EBCM.
A new EBCM is now ordered and when it arrives I'll report back...
Thanks Again!
