Front End Whine
I have a 2014 Z71 that has a persistent front area whine at any speed. I'm thinking and suspect it's just the tires, but don't know for sure. Per my decoding of the VIN, I have the 6 speed transmission. I've had the brakes, rotors, bearings, drive shafts, transfer case, transmission, steering, and suspension checked fine. My tires are BFG All Terrain K02 LT275/70/R18s. I've got friends that have the same style of tires and tread pattern, who don't have the whine. This is the first truck that I've ever owned that had BFG's on them. I've had All Terrain Cooper, Dunlop, Michelin, Goodyear, Big O, and Falken tires on past trucks and didn't have the whine. I bought the truck with 81k on it used almost 1 year ago and these tires came new with the truck. I now have 96k miles on them. I still think it's the tires, but will appreciate the thoughts of anyone here. The truck also came with a leveling kit already installed. That's why I had the suspension checked.
My 2014 3500HD diesel Z71 has the 4W selector **** down by my left knee. Hard to see and no indicator on the instrument cluster to indicate 4X4 is selected. Wifey drove it on a 1600 mile trip that way......never wondered why it was so hard to turn corners.
