Default Key & Key FOB replacement 2016

Hello all,
Just became the owner of a 2016 Silverado 1500 crew cab w/5.3L Im looking for help on getting a 2nd key and key fob made (and programmed) without having to spend $459 at the local dealer i called today. I went to Google and Youtube university today and i found out how to program the key (once its cut) but cant find anything substantial about programming the 4 button FOB (it has remote start) without spending an arm and a leg on stand alone programmer which costs more than the dealer doing it, considering i just need it once. Hopefully somebody can point me in the right direction for that.

Regards,

Hey just read your post. We bought a new (to us) 2017 Silverado 1500 Crew Cab 4x4 High Desert model last year, and it had only one fob and key. I matched the key fob with a seller on Amazon for about $19 (
Amazon Amazon
) , and bought a key blank for about $13. I then went to my local hardware store (who has a good key shop) and in a few minutes they programmed the fob, and cut me a key for $100. that's about as cheap as I could do it. I don't know what differences (if any) there are from 16 to 17 but thats as cheap as I was able to get it done Definitely NOT at the dealer.

I did more googling and found an online locksmith service that has a package including a new key (that is cut for my truck), a new key Fob, and the OBD2 programming unit for the Fob. Its $170 so i went ahead and ordered it, we'll see how it goes when it gets here and i'll update. Hope it works cause that saves $300 compared to what the dealer quoted.

I received the "kit" and it was so simple that i was able to program the new key and key FOB in less than 3 minutes. And it saved $290 over the cost of having my local dealer do it. I would highly recommend Toms Key Company.
