MP4 video files not playing
I have a 2018 Chevy Silverado LT. I have mp3 and mp4 files on a flash drive (USB 2.0). The truck finds, displays and plays the mp3 (audio) files no problem. It doesnt display or play mp4 (video) files. Ive tried a few different flash drives none of the mp4 work in my silverado but they all work just fine on my computer. The Mylink infotainment manual is about useless.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
Have you tried converting your MP4 files to a different format? Sometimes, certain devices or players have trouble with specific file types. You could use free software like Movavi Video Editor to convert your files to a format that's more compatible with your Silverado. Lastly, if you're looking for free editing software with no watermark, I'd recommend checking out Davinci Resolve. It's a powerful video editor that's available for free, and it doesn't add any watermarks to your videos. Another option could be to check if there are any firmware updates available for your truck's infotainment system.

I’ve run into this exact issue with my older Chevy Tahoe. The system usually only recognizes a few formats, most times it’s limited to basic video codecs like AVI or WMV, not MP4. Even if the files play fine on your computer, car players can be picky and only accept very specific video formats or resolutions, which the manual never really explains. I ended up using a converter to get my videos into a really simple format and lower resolution, then they played fine.
If you ever want to record something off your Mac to share with your Silverado or just to convert it later, there are tools like a mac screen recorder that let you capture and save content in the format you need. That ended up being easier for me sometimes than dealing with the conversion headaches.
