I keep randomly getting g the Trailer Brake System message on my dash. It happens several times in a day, then I won’t see it for weeks, then it appears again. Any ideas why it could be flashing and why sporadically?

Same thing happened to me a few days ago. Several times within 5 miles. Ding / Alarm sound, and the DIC display said Service Trailer Braking System. Then it stopped. It did this one or twice a couple of years back. No idea what it meant. I haven't towed my trailer for over a year. 2015 HD2500 4x4 crew cab Duramax.
